How does a home water treatment system work?

First, there are 3 types of water for your home...

1. Utility Grade Water - is this the water you have in your home now?
As long as the water is wet, it will do the job. Watering your lawn and plants usually requires no water treatment.

2. Working Grade Water
- What the WATERMAX® system delivers
This type of water needs to be higher quality because it runs through your plumbing, fixtures and water-using appliances. To make these essential household systems last longer and save your money, treated water is needed.

3. Food Grade Water - What the WATERMAX RO® system delivers
Since 70% of the human body is water, the water we drink and cook with must be the highest quality water. Don't we all want the best for our family?

With that said, should you get your water tested?
Yes. The test should include a minimum of hardness, iron, and pH. Purtitan Water has the equipment to test your water accurately. We can also demonstrate the value of clean, soft water – and the cost of untreated water.

Imagine - No More Bottled Water!
Now it's fresh from the tap with a home water treatment system!

How Do Water Filters Work?
How a Home Water Treatment System Works
Compartment 1

ULTRA-FIL - filters dirt & sediment. Self cleaning; no cartridges to change. Provides whole house water filtration, and needs no replacement filters or maintenance.

Compartment 2

ULTRA-SOFT
- utilizes high-capacity fine mesh resin, vacuum VIBRAPACKED™ for maximum treatment of hardness.

Bacteriostat - inhibits bacteria growth in the resin bed.

WATERMAX®
• High flow rate: 11.2 gpm at 15 psi pressure drop
• Filters dirt and sediment to a nominal 20 microns - smaller than the eye can see
• Regeneration as short as 12 minutes
• Uses as little as 24 gallons of water per regeneration
• Removes more than 5,000 grains of hardness per pound of salt or salt substitute

Only the Hague WATERMAX® can offer a patented approach to solving your home's specific water treatment needs. The WATERMAX® multi-compartment media tank offers complete flexibility in media configuration and assures more usable resin capacity.

Elements affecting your water quality without a home water treatment system:

Working Grade Water
Hardness

• Combines with soap to form an insoluble curd
• Precipitates out of the water to form lime deposits in pipes, fixtures & applliances
Iron
• Objectionable taste and staining occur
pH
• Corrosive; bluish staining & corrosion are caused by low pH
Sulfer/Other
• A colorless gas which gives an offensive "rotten egg" odor
• Promotes corrosion due to its activity as a weak acid
• Hydrogen sulfide in the air casues silver to tarnish in a matter of seconds
